Sometimes, I struggle mightily with a post. I research, draw up an outline, do my best to compose an essay…and then find that someone has covered it already and done a better job. Here are a few titles from my bookshelf (all available from Amazon.com) to which I’m turning today in honor of the feast – two are reference works, the other a short and powerful biography: John Paul II’s Book of Saints (Our Sunday Visitor, 2007), which is good to put side-by-side with Butler’s Lives of the Saints (I have the concise edition from Harper & Row); Saint Edmund Campion by Evelyn Waugh (Sophia Institute Press, 1996)
