New Video from Daleiden & Center for Medical Progress

“How can we ever make America great again as long as our laws and our policies say our children are worth more dead than alive?” David Daleiden posed the question at the Values Voter conference in Washington, D.C. earlier this month. He announced to the crowd that a new Center for Medical Progress video was forthcoming. This week, he delivered, documenting further the body-parts business that is integrated with the abortion industry.

In this new video, he interviews whistleblower Holly O’Donnell, former procurement technician for StemExpress, a company which worked in conjunction with Planned Parenthood affiliates to obtain fetal body parts. The video includes undercover footage of lab workers sorting “POC” (products of conception, i.e. aborted children), and here’s fair warning that some viewers may find the video hard to take.

At Values Voter, Daleiden started his presentation with a self-deprecating remark about his tendency to speak too long, adding that if he did, “You can always call the California Attorney General’s office and they will be happy to send eleven jackbooted thugs to carry me off the stage.” California is where 15 charges were filed against Daleiden and colleague Sandra Merritt over the CMP videos – and where 14 of those charges were dismissed on grounds of “legal insufficiency.”

It’s been two years since CMP’s first video was released. Yet, said Daleiden, Planned Parenthood and its allies continue “the lie that my videos are highly edited. In reality, my videos are highly accurate. After two years, Planned Parenthood still cannot deny that the people featured on these videos are their own top abortion doctors, speaking their own words that have so shocked and outraged the public, captured on camera for all the world and all of history to see.”

He is confident that President Trump would sign a bill to keep public funds from going to Planned Parenthood “if the Senate would do its job, abolish the filibuster and restore constitutional order. We are just one vote away from zeroing out [funding].” He pointed out that when Trump proposed an end to defunding efforts if PP would stop doing abortions, PP declined.

“I promise you I am not backing down in the face of Planned Parenthood’s attacks. I am all in to defeat them in every courtroom….Please continue to share these videos….[I]f we stay focused and work together, we will hasten the day when there is no longer a price tag on human life.”

Abortion investigators charged in California; another undercover video released

From LifeSiteNews.com: David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress have been charged in California with 15 felony violations of recording confidential conversations in connection with CMP’s undercover investigation of body-parts trafficking by Planned Parenthood affiliates.

Texas authorities tried the same thing awhile ago, and later had to drop the charges.

CMP isn’t backing down. Today, it released a new video featuring a conversation with an Arizona abortionist. The abortion provider talks about Arizona’s law requiring care for children who survive attempted abortion. Seem that the determination of whether a child has survived depends in part on who’s in the room.

Coincidentally, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America is spearheading a #PinkOut day on social media, encouraging PP supporters to sport pink pro-PP profile images and posts. And Then There Were None, an organization for former abortion workers, suggests an alternative:

Another video seeks to “change the abortion debate”

Before David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress, there was Lila Rose with Live Action. Live Action began undercover investigations of Planned Parenthood affiliates in 2007, later releasing video and audio recordings documenting (among other things) some employees facilitating sexual trafficking.

Live Action has just released a new video, featuring a physician who used to perform abortions now explaining what’s involved in a second-trimester abortion. Need I warn you? – the content is disturbing.

In a Facebook post accompanying the release of the video, Live Action says “This video may just change the abortion debate.”

One can only hope. What I expect is that those already committed to the dignity of human life at all stages of development will remain so committed, and that those who defend abortion will continue to use words like “edited videos,” “tragic fetal anomalies,” perhaps even “sensationalism,” with a figurative swipe or two at the doctor.

The late Dr. Bernard Nathanson, a founder of NARAL, became pro-life around the time that I first got involved in the movement. He made a groundbreaking video called The Silent Scream, which may viewed today via YouTube. It showed ultrasound images of a preborn child during an abortion procedure. I was naive enough to think that those images would settle the issue once and for all.

As you and I know, they didn’t. Clump of cells. Not a person. My choice. One recent comment for The Silent Scream on its YouTube page: If they feel pain then drug the little bugger before you scoop him out.

Nathanson, Rose and Daleiden did public service with their work – and I hope Rose and Daleiden keep it up. I’ll share their work where I can. The truth matters.

Yet no matter how intensive the investigation, no matter how many physicians turn away from abortion and tell the truth about what they did, there will always be what Dr. Nathanson called “the averted gaze” – averted from distasteful images, from a sordid industry, from the fact that without the right to life no other right can make sense.

I’m glad Live Action is doing its job. As for changing the debate, I recall seeing The Silent Scream more than thirty years ago. Did it change the debate? Perhaps. End it? No.

PP watchdogs, heads up: Daleiden, Merritt of CMP facing indictment

[Update: in July 2016, the Houston District Attorney dropped all charges agianst Daleiden & Merritt, after a June decision by a judge to dismiss one of the charges.]

A Texas grand jury has indicted David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt for alleged offenses related to the Center for Medical Progress videos about Planned Parenthood’s body-parts business. The same grand jury found nothing for which to indict the local PP affiliate. It was beyond the grand jury’s scope to look at any other affiliate.

CMP’s statement on the indictment:

“The Center for Medical Progress uses the same undercover techniques that investigative journalists have used for decades in exercising our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and of the press, and follows all applicable laws. We respect the processes of the Harris County District Attorney, and note that buying fetal tissue requires a seller as well. Planned Parenthood still cannot deny the admissions from their leadership about fetal organ sales captured on video for all the world to see.”

This is not the last word, but the indictment may well have a chilling effect on anyone doing the essential work of showing life on the inside of the nation’s principal abortion provider.

Here’s reaction from some interested observers. Abby Johnson, for one, sees something good coming from this. “I’m personally excited about the discovery that will take place against Planned Parenthood. And yes, if laws were broken by David or anyone else, then that will also come out. But we may finally get the truth out about Planned Parenthood. And that’s what we need to be praying for.”

Planned Parenthood cannot rebut the incriminating statements its own leadership made on the undercover CMP videos, and…
